From a Wild Idea to a Scientific Breakthrough
The ocean is full of powerful resources, but our focus was on one particular red seaweed: Palmaria palmata, or Dulse. The challenge was how to cultivate it sustainably and unlock its full nutritional potential.
After years of research and development, we achieved a significant breakthrough. We developed a pilot plant that allowed us to produce commercial volumes of high-quality Dulse. This success, combined with our 40 hectares of licensed seaweed growing sites and a 20,000 sq ft. state-of-the-art hatchery and processing facility, formed the foundation of our work. It's this dedication to science that allows us to create the potent, bioavailable formulas we offer today.

Pure Ocean began with a deep respect for the rugged, unspoilt beauty of the Beara Peninsula. Here in West Cork, surrounded by the powerful and pristine Atlantic ocean, we saw the enormous potential of seaweed to help sustain coastal communities and provide a new frontier in natural wellness. Our journey started not just as a business idea, but as a mission to create a vertically integrated, environmentally sustainable company rooted in the immense power of the sea.
